Coenraad Heijdemann
This website and blog belong to Coenraad Heijdemann, also known as Conrad to his English-speaking friends and associates. Coenraad was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and has been a translator and an interpreter of Dutch and English since 1988. He has done almost anything conceivably connected with translation, interpretation, voice-overs, localisation, teaching and other linguistic work. And he not only writes translations for a living, but likes to write as a hobby too: he has a photography blog on ePhotozine.com (a little neglected over the years, but he'll get back to it), a former sauna blog on the Dutch spa review site saunagespot.nl and a brand new sauna blog in English here: dutchsaunafan.blogspot.com.
Coenraad is based in Winterswijk, The Netherlands, but also spent a lot of time in the UK - first in the late 1970s, and more recently in this century. He became a big fan of the English language, so much so that he made his profession in that field, and later created another connection with Great Britain by marrying a lovely lady from Wales.
He is the proud father of three grown-up children, all of whom reside in the Netherlands.
A lot of his time is filled with work, of course, and his spare time with reading, writing, traveling and spa/sauna visits. And with trying to give something back to the planet and its inhabitants by promoting a friendlier way to treat the planet, nature, animals, and the protection of the environment, climate and animal rights.
As a converted vegetarian with ever stronger vegan tendencies, and as a big fan of aloe vera for both internal and external use, he considers himself as somewhat of a health advocate, and will happily talk about these subjects at length when anyone shows an interest.
He is, of course, a member of the greenest and most idealistic political party in the Netherlands, the Partij voor de Dieren (Part for the Animals), and a big fan of their party program, Plan B.
